Weekly Round Up: Friday 17th July

Friday 17th July, 2015 3:01PM

Tour news started off with a bang this week. On Monday we were stoked to announce that The Dillinger Escape Plan is heading this way for two shows in August. That same day also brought with it news that The 1975 are returning for one performance at the Auckland Town Hall next January, and Tuxedo (the musical match-up of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One) are heading over to funk things up in September. The rest of the week didn't disappoint either. We shared the news that Lydia Lunch is bringing her band Retrovirus to Auckland and Wellington next month. Melbourne group The Smith Street Band are making their New Zealand debut in October. And that same month Los Angeles outfit Lighthouse will be brightening up these shores with one concert.

In release news, Chvches announced forthcoming third album Every Open Eye and shared the stellar first single 'Leave A Trace'. American garage rocker Mike Krol shared the excellent cut 'This Is The News', as he prepares to release his third album Turkey. New Jersey trio Yo La Tengo unveiled an oddball video along with their fantastic cover of The Cure's 'Friday I'm In Love', which will be included on their upcoming album. A bit closer to home, Christchurch trio Nervous Jerk let loose an excellent pop-punk cut called 'Knuckle Cut' from their upcoming EP Weakdays. Experimental rock duo Triumphs from Dunedin unveiled 'Beekeeper', the first jam from their upcoming debut record. And Bevan Smith (Ruby Suns, Signer) shared a slick video for the new single 'Happiness Is Such A Mess' under the moniker Introverted Dancefloor.

This week's Caught Live is an oldie, but it only just surfaced this week. It's Thom Yorke in his pre-Radiohead days performing 'High and Dry' with his band Headless Chickens...
