It has been a madcap NZ Music Month to say the least. Rewind back to this week's coverage of Guardian Singles, The Circling Sun, Clementine Valentine, Coast Arcade, Yon Loader and Hemi Hemingway, and delve downwards for fresh local tunes from Totems, Unknown Mortal Orchestra x Portugal. The Man, After The Flesh, Tom Verberne, This Silent Divide and The Winebox Inquiry.

An absolutely massive track created by Aotearoa's legendary Reuben Samuel Winter (RIP), 'Life Dealer' completes a posthumous double-single Totems package out now from the Bankrupt Records crew. There's just one single limited 10" dubplate copy still available on their official Bandcamp page — go cop it HERE.

It's getting nippy down under but heating up in the Northern Hemisphere. Aotearoa's Unknown Mortal Orchestra graces Alaskan superstars Portugal. The Man's new anthem 'Summer of Luv' with his celestial vocal tones — "Portugal took us on one of our most important early tours and have been our friends for a long time now. Feels great to share this".

Perhaps more suited to our impending winter months than the above tune, Te Whanganui-a-Tara darkwave collective After The Flesh unveiled their atmospheric four song self-titled debut EP.

Tāmaki Makaurau's Tom Verberne launched his fourth long player Don't Walk this week, radiating future-friendly emo-pop-punk energy ahead of showcase events in the US — described by the artist as "a take on midwest emo except with kinda D&B-esque drums and pretty flowy melody lines".

Pōneke rockers This Silent Divide unleashed their darkly epic new anthem 'Beautiful Creature' ahead of next Thursday's gig at Meow, with Secrets of the Sun and Dave And The Dirty Humans.

Launched just before the NZ Music Month silly season, Liquid Air is the lush first new collection of tunes in seven years from Te Whanganui-a-Tara's The Winebox Inquiry, the project of William Daymond (Terror of the Deep, AXEMEN) with contributions on a couple of tracks from Taipua Adams and Tom Watson.
