Friday 9th May, 2014 11:30AM

Marina Sakimoto, who releases music under the name Shunkan, is sharing her debut EP Honey, Milk and Blood. The 20-year-old shoegaze pop musician is based in Invercargill by way of Los Angeles, where she played with a band called The Dining Dead. Sakimoto claims the EP to be a hotpot of influences, including the likes of Karen O, Waxahatchee and My Bloody Valentine. The five-track EP was written, performed and recorded by Sakimoto and was originally released on a strictly limited cassette, but is now available for streaming and purchase via her Bandcamp page. Shunkan is currently slaving away on a first album, but in the meantime check out the EP below...

Shunkan is set to play at 95bFM's 8th annual Fancy New Bands showcase on May 31st at The King's Arms alongside Race Banyon, Purple Pilgrims, Totems, Pals and Heavy. Head over here for details.
