Gig Information

After 3 years of raging house parties, loud bars and a few out-of-town music festivals, ISKRA have finally taken to the studio to record their first EP. Now you can take us anywhere!

We've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into these 5 tracks and we're pretty stoked with how it's all turned out. Expect fire and fury, with some sweet moments of reflection in the middle.

Joining us to celebrate this release our our favoured sax-led ambient trio The Temple, and rounding off the night is Torchie (DJ)

Come celebrate with us and support original music!

ISKRA are an otherworldly quartet hailing from Te Whanganui-a-Tara formed by saxophonist Josh Buckler and featuring Simon Grove (Niko Ne Zna) on helicon, Ato Kwamena (Culture Embassy) on percussion and David McGurk (Planet Hunter) on drums.

Inspired by the likes of Sons of Kemet and the London jazz scene, they bring driving grooves, soaring melodies and the fire of afro-beat, Balkan music and Brass-House. Think dance party at the end of the world, when the last lights have gone out

The Temple
Pōneke's inimitable live ambient outfit The Temple takes listeners on strange transcendental musical journeys, drawing energy from Aotearoa's underground and sound art scenes. Their broad palette of influences reaches into electronica, dub-techno, ambient, jazz, glitch, new age, and jungle, creating a beguiling, kaleidoscopic sound. The Temple is saxophonist Peter Liley, percussionist Nathan Carter and producer Jack Woodbury

Torchie (DJ)
Torchie primarily conveys the finest in jungle, liquid drum & bass, tech, and 140s/dubstep.
As a multi-instrumentalist with classical flute and vocal training, Torchie’s musical sensibility allows him to create rich melodic sets and soundscapes.
Drum & bass influences : Calibre, Alix Perez, Marcus Intalex (RIP), Commix, dBridge, Goldie, Fracture, Pola & Bryson, Etherwood - and more.
140s: Mala, Loefah, Truth, Saule, and Dubamine (among many others).
