The Undercurrent presents the Wooden Box Band!
Wellington's folk darlings bring their sparkling original music back to The Undercurrent on September 12. Many years of hard work, and writing and recording their songs paid off earlier this year when the band won the Aotearoa Folk Alliance's Best Original Folk Album award. The winning album - Broken River - features in their set list of course with the soaring harmonies and intricate guitars and brass the recording's known for. Recently recruited drummer Sean Barker will be armed with his new small kit so the six piece band can fit on the stage.
The sound of the Wooden Box Band has been compared to early Wilco, the Mamas and the Papas, and Woodstock acoustic bands.
