The Faustians Duo will be appearing at The Fold, a small secret venue hosted by Julie Lamb in a dark recess of the Wellington CBD... From deep within the Appalachian Old-time traditions The Faustians bring you tub-thumping dance tunes, songs of the pioneers, old gospels, and their own dark mountain-forged originals, ranging from the full sound to just a lone voice with a clapped rhythm. Helena will be joined by Kate McCann, a young songstress and banjo player from the States for some double banjo! and several songs from the powerful Shape Note tradition. There will be a viewing of their homemade crankie - a scroll of images moved across a lightbox accompanied by a song.
