ABOUT THE ACTS…
DEE & the Sweet Somethings are a three-piece alternative-folk band based in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara. Since forming in July last year, they have performed at MOON, Valhalla, San Fran, Meow, and Twisted Frequency. They took DEE's glittering guitar sound and sultry vocals, Maxime Zephyr's funky bass lines, and Ryder Smith's transcendental ability to hit things, threw them in a blender et voilà: it's boogie central, baby. They will be joined onstage by local violinist Celia McAlpine's magical melodies. The crew are cooking up some tunes in the bedroom, so watch their Spotify space in 2023!
Girl Best Friend is fresh on the Wellington music scene with the aim of providing a unique and alluring sound for the city. The female-led two-piece band is composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Charlotte Avery and drummer Tessa Hills. Together they combine luscious vocals and groovy rhythms to produce a fresh take on what’s best labelled as alternative R&B. The sound and identity of Girl Best Friend is juxtaposing powerful and sensual melodies with a commanding aesthetic to create a stylish artist image for the eye and ear.
