Presenting the very first of what will hopefully be a series of songwriter sessions at the beautiful Point Chevalier venue Auckland Subud Hall. All ages, seated (with cushions for the overspill), and nice and early, this could be just what the community ordered!
Folk artist Brandon De La Cruz grew up in the suburbs of Southern California's Inland Empire, but while visiting just pre-pandemic, he found himself stranded, and loved it so much he decided to stay.
These days Brandon calls Kirikiriroa home, and he has just released his sublime new record 'Two Kilos Of Blue'. While his previous albums were inspired by literary heroes such as Rilke, Joan Didion, and Ovid, his latest album comes after a period of his own personal contemplation and writing, and comes laden with songs of love, loss, spirits, seasons, shades of blue and the moon.
Joining Brandon will be songwriter Lisa Crawley, who has been living in Los Angeles for three years, and is back for a short but sweet visit. Lisa plays regularly at iconic L.A. venues such as the Dresden, and this will likely be her sole New Zealand show on this visit.
Finally, Nicholas Joseph will be joining the line-up. Also based in Kirikiriroa, Nicholas is set to release his debut solo EP on the Sonorous Circle label in the near future. Recorded in an underground studio in Shanghai, China, these songs are dreamlike, layered, and melodic. https://brandonthomasdelacruz.bandcamp.com/album/two-kilos-of-blue
