MUSIC FIRST
invites
Kenji Takimi [Japan]
Friday November 15th Double Whammy
With Music First residents: Frank Booker & Samuel Harmony

Kenji Takimi has been an important and prolific underground figure in Japanese dance music for decades, and one of the true pioneers of the left field House/Dance music worldwide as a DJ as well as a producer.

His record label, Crue-L Records, has been at the forefront of Japanese alternative music since its inception over 30 years ago. From his remixes of Cornelius, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Nina Kraviz, Sebastian Tellier, Cut Copy, Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Dimitri From Paris, Boris and countless more, to his studio work with dance favourites Theo Parrish, DJ Harvey and many more.

A Godfather of the underground Tokyo scene and resident at the famous Rainbow Disco Club - Kenji's characterises himself as a “New Romantic DJ” - his spacey, balearic & eclectic selections from his famously extensive record collection have garnered him an international following. The king of left turns and fresh ears, Kenji’s sets linger long in the memory and it gives us great pleasure to welcome Takimi-san back to Tāmaki Makaurau this Spring for a very special party at Double Whammy
