Suzanne Lynch
Discovered with her sister Judy by guitarist Peter Posa, Suzanne rose to fame in the late ’60s on NZ’s TV show C’Mon and later Happen In. Known as the blonde half of The Chicks, she became a solo performer before moving to England in 1973, where she became one of London’s top session singers.
In 1974, Suzanne worked with Cat Stevens, singing the solo line on Oh Very Young and touring globally on two major tours. She featured on all his albums until 1979. Through Stevens, she connected with producer Paul Samwell-Smith, recording for artists like Chris De Burgh and Art Garfunkel. Suzanne also performed at Neil Sedaka’s Royal Festival Hall concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, appeared on UK TV shows (Get It Together, Lulu Special, The Goodies, Leo Sayer’s series), and backed major English artists.
Returning to NZ, Suzanne coached contestants on NZ Idol (2004–2007) and Stars in Their Eyes (2008–2009). Today, she teaches contemporary vocal technique and stage performance at Auckland University and privately, while performing solo and with The Lady Killers.
