Weekly Round Up: Friday 30th October

Friday 30th October, 2015 4:55PM

After the hefty lot of tour announcements last week, this week was a bit more on the quiet side. But quality prevailed over quantity, and we were delighted to reveal that Buzzcocks are returning this way for four shows next year as part of their 40th anniversary tour. Riot grrrl originators Sleater-Kinney are coming this way for one show in February - their first on these shores since the 2006 Big Day Out. That same month will see Melbourne post-rock trio My Disco coming over for two shows to help celebrate the 15th birthday of A Low Hum. In festival news, McLaren Falls Fest rebranded as Echo Festival and provided details of the new Auckland location, as well as revealing more acts added to the bill. And the Big Ass Tour featuring The Amity Affliction and A Day To Remember got a New Zealand date ahead of its run across the ditch in December.

In release news, the wonderful Princess Chelsea just unveiled a new Simon Ward-directed video for 'We Are Strangers' - her duo with Jonathan Bree. The acerbic Ron Gallipoli gave us a taster of his new album Agrokomplex with the self-explanatory single 'The New Zealand Herald Is A Bad Fucking Joke'. Dormant act Sleepers Union revealed new pop-psych gem 'Don't Be Yourself' as they prepare to release a new album next month via Bandcamp. Wellington teen October let loose a striking self-directed video for her debut single 'Voids', which has her pegged as one to watch. And an album of Shocking Pinks songs from debut album Dance The Dance Electric remixed by Totems, Career Girls, Keepsakes, Death & The Maiden and more was released and made available for streaming.

This week's Caught Live is Foals covering Florence And The Machine's song "What Kind Of Man' for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge...
