Weekly Round Up: Friday 17th February

Friday 17th February, 2017 3:15PM

This week's in tour news was a bit of a mix bag, we had word that Adam Ant will be heading downunder for two shows to perform his seminal 1980 album Kings Of The Wild Frontier in full. Los Angeles tech death outfit The Faceless are coming this way for a couple of North Island shows in May. Australian alt-country songstress Julia Jacklin is returning for an Auckland show in late May. Also coming from across the ditch is politically-driven rockers Midnight Oil for two stadium-sized shows as part of a worldwide tour. And locally, Motte and New Dawn have lined up a string of shows around the country to celebrate their respective releases.

In release news, Wellington's Melting Faces came through with their beautiful slow-burning single 'Waste The Day'. Palmerston North two-piece Fruit Juice Parade shared their awesome debut single 'Whaling'. Further south, gothronica trio Elan Vital let loose their percussive new single 'Dreams' as they get ready to release their debut album Shadow Self next month. And on the visual front, Nadia Reid released a video for her aching single 'The Arrow And The Aim' ahead of the release of her sophomore album Preservation. While further abroad Timber Timbre unveiled a gorgeous clip for 'Velvet Gloves & Spit' from their upcoming record Sincerely, Future Pollution. And The Jesus and Mary Chain cut loose another track from their first album in 18 years, Damage And Joy.
