Weekly Round Up: Friday 9th June
In tour news this week, dream popsters London Grammar announced their debut appearance on New Zealand soil for September. Brisbane indie-rockers The Jungle Giants will also be making their first trip across the ditch for one show in September. Hit maker Lionel Richie is winging his way back to New Zealand in October for two shows with special guests Chic. And in terms of homegrown talent, Lorde has announced six shows around the country to celebrate the release of her eagerly awaited second album Melodrama. Auckland alt-country duo The Bads have lined up a seven-date tour to support their new record Losing Heroes. And Reb Fountain is poised to release a very personal project entitled Hopeful and Hopeless which will be followed by a nationwide jaunt.
In release highlights, we were delighted to get our hands on the juicy new single 'Satsuma' from Wellington trio Mermaidens. Rising hip hop emcee JessB let loose the excellent P-Money produced cut 'Soul Free'. We were stoked to premiere the debut track from Christchurch sure shots Best Bets. And form further abroad, Thee Oh Sees announced yet another name change and shared frantic new track 'The Static God'. Polarising pop weirdo Ariel Pink popped up with new single 'Another Weekend'. And speaking of pop weirdos, our friend across the ditch Kirin J Callinan unleashed his sophomore album Bravado for your streaming pleasure.
This week's Caught Live is Arcade Fire who bust out new song 'Signs Of Life' live at a show in the UK overnight...
