Weekly Round Up: Friday 28th July
In tour news this week, Japanese pop punk queens Shonen Knife revealed they would be returning to our shores for two shows in October. Mermaidens announced a nationwide tour to celebrate the release of their highly-anticipated sophomore album Perfect Body that is due to drop next week. Wellington crew The Nudge have lined up an extensive tour of the country to support the recent release of their record Dark Arts. Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols is heading this way for two solo performances in November. A killer first line-up for The Others Way festival was revealed and will see a special guest appearance from Canadian indie darlings The Courtneys. And the Hamilton Circle Jerk has been announced with an eclectic bill set for the ninth annual event.
In release highlights, Christchurch electronic artist French_concession unveiled her new single 'Winter Storm' along with a gorgeous self-directed video. Lil' Chief Records co-founder Scott Mannion shared the heart-crushing clip for his brand new single 'Your Kinda Love' which comes from his upcoming debut solo album. New surfaced Auckland act Glove (which is comprised of members of Sunken Seas) surfaced with their awesome first ever tune 'Tilt'. The Pleasure Majenta shared another slice of full length offering In Your Dreams, which is out on cassette today. And further abroad, Chelsea Wolfe let loose the second single from her upcoming record Hiss Spun.
This week's Caught Live is Dynamo Dave, who performed an untitled tune in the bFM studio for Freak The Sheep's Live and Direct.... and was signed to Loop Recordings right after coming off air! Catch Dave at The Others Way which was announced earlier this week.
