Weekly Round Up: Friday 1st September

Friday 1st September, 2017 1:55PM

In festival news this week Pink Floyd creative visionary Roger Waters announced Auckland and Dunedin shows as part of his 'Us + Them' tour that is racking up accolades around the globe. Brooklyn-based indie folk four-piece Big Thief have lined up an Auckland appearance with support from Pavement's Scott Kanneburg, who makes music under the solo moniker Spiral Stairs - and as an added bonus Scott will be stopping by Hamilton for a Spiral Stairs sideshow. The line-up was announced for the second iteration of Wondergarden NYE festival and it's topped by Unknown Mortal Orchestra who will be joined by Leisure, Chelsea Jade, SWIDT and much more sonic deliciousness.

In release highlights, we were over the moon to reveal the lilting new single 'Feeling Like Helium' from Wellington trio Womb who will be releasing their debut album in the near future. Auckland's Yoko-Zuna shared an excellent cut called 'Voltron' as they ready to jump the ditch for Bigsound festival. Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile shared the fruits of their collective labour with the deadpan 'Over Everything' which is from their upcoming collaborative album Lotta See Lice. And LCD Soundsystem let loose their first album in seven years with the wonderful American Dream for your streaming pleasure.

We were pretty surprised (and hyped) to see Princess Nokia on the bill for this year's Northern Bass festival and we're holding out hope she'll line up some sideshows. But in the meantime we are enjoying this footage of her performing 'Tom Boy' at the Sailor Moon Day afterparty last year...
