Dunedin "trip-pop" duo Jaggers x Lines (Morgan Simile and Eliana Gray) have have a shared a reflective and quick-witted single called ‘Problem Drinking’. The new tune continues with the group’s idiosyncratic approach to pop music, first seen on their debut EP Letters. The song’s use of samples is reminiscent of a sanguine Portishead with slices of shredding turntablism thrown in for good measure. Gray’s adroit lyricism serves as the cherry on the top of the proverbial sonic cake, she provided insight into the ideas behind ‘Problem Drinking’ - read her words and pop the top below...

“While the beat was born from the discovery of a very old jazzercise record in Morgan’s collection, the lyrical content is a reflection on my experiences with mental illness and alcoholism. Turns out music makes for a much better coping mechanism than booze.”

You can also listen to 'Problem Drinking' via Spotify.
