Obey The Riff 2019 Festival Announced feat. HLAH and Beastwars
Four of Wellington's most electrifying heavy music acts are joining forces for one ear-shattering event this February at the Obey The Riff 2019 outdoor mini-festival, featuring maniacal riff-veterans Head Like A Hole and Beastwars, with support from rising guitar destroyers Earth Tongue and Stälker. Pioneers of diabolical rock action and on-stage weirdness, HLAH have dialed back the nudity while retaining the cranking riffage, while Beastwars have returned to local stages after a health-related hiatus to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Psychedelic space rock duo Earth Tongue (featuring Gussie Larkin of Mermaidens and Ezra Simons) have entranced listeners with their mind-warping recent singles 'The Well of Pristine Order' and 'Pentagram On The Moon’, while live favourites Stälker look set to conquer the world with their devastating thrash metal anthems, as evidenced on last year's debut album Shadow Of The Sword released via Austria's Napalm Records. Press release:
Panhead Custom Ales are proud to present Obey the Riff 2019.
In collaboration with Wellington sludge rockers Beastwars, who are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their 1st performance, Obey the Riff is an afternoon/early evening outdoor mini-festival on the hallowed grounds of Panhead Brewery in Upper Hutt on Saturday February the 9th.
Head Like A Hole have a reputation as one of New Zealand's best and most outrageous live acts. Sure they may not play in the nude anymore but you can still expect a set of classic New Zealand rock'n'roll. Turn on, fuzz up and freak out.
Beastwars triumphantly returned after a 2 year hiatus in 2018 with their own sold out shows throughout New Zealand and Australia and a slot on Shihad's 30th anniversary tour. Their life long motto of "Obey the Riff" will be felt in full effect at Panhead Brewery as they bring together some of their favourite local bands to commemorate their 10th birthday.
Opening the afternoon are 2 groups who have recently returned from Europe tours. Bringing back the glory of the 80's comes Stälker with their neck-wrecking barrage of pure speed metal mayhem and the heavy and fuzzed out psychedelic space rock riffs of Earth Tongue.
With an outdoor stage within easy access to public transport via Upper Hutt station, the party starts at 3pm. Bus ticket and brewery tour package including a complimentary tasting tray are also available.
