Premiere: Earth Tongue Share Single 'The Well Of Pristine Order' + Video

Thursday 8th November, 2018 10:29AM

Wellington heavy psychedelic duo Earth Tongue aka Gussie Larkin (Mermaidens) and Ezra Simons are currently busy touring Europe and the UK, but that hasn't stopped them from unveiling their monstrous new single 'The Well of Pristine Order', accompanied by a visually dazzling video directed by the band themselves. Following on from superb recent single ‘Pentagram On The Moon’, the duo's signature snakelike riffage and eldritch, fuzzed-out grooves are represented to full effect on the driving new song, while mystic pronouncements burrow deep into listeners' skulls. Inspired by the mind-expanding visuals for UK singer Julie Driscoll’s version of 'Season Of The Witch', the cult-like clip for 'The Well of Pristine Order' was created by Earth Tongue in collaboration with Will Agnew, Lily West, animator Thomas Harnett O’Meara and designer Neirin Best. The duo kindly opened up about the origins of their latest audio-visual creation - read their words, experience the video, and scope out the northern hemisphere tour info below...

"The Well of Pristine Order is our latest fuzzy creation which is full of catchy hooks and satisfying 70s flavoured riffs. At less than three minutes in length, we want The Well of Pristine Order to be a song that people listen to multiple times per sitting, discovering different layers and textures each listen. The video is a throwback to some of our favourite music videos from the past, and was influenced especially by Julie Driscoll’s version of the song "Season Of the Witch". We created the video at home with some close friends over one afternoon. We shot the parts of the video through a large glass cylinder to create some interesting analog illusions. Together with animations by Thomas Harnett O’Meara and title design by Neirin Best - we’re pretty happy with the result!"
