Watch Jim Nothing's DIY Video 'Only Life'

Wednesday 19th December, 2018 12:50PM

Auckland's Jim Nothing aka James Sullivan (ex-member of Wurld Series and Salad Boys) has released a homely low-fi video for his enchanting fuzz-pop tune 'Only Life', previously featured on this year's scene-defining Christchurch compilation Sickest Smashes From Arson City Compilation: Legacy Edition. The video accurately depicts Grey Lynn flat life with overgrown lawns, shabby weatherboards and a tabby cat.  A full length album is currently in the works for the ex-Canterbury artist, who's hoping to share some more tunes in 2019.  Jim Nothing just wrapped up a national tour with California “devotional dork surf” crew Bed Bits, and kindly shared some words on his new clip...

“The video was shot by Adele Andrews at our house in Grey Lynn. It features my cat / wonderful friend, Buddy (a 3 legged ginger tabby with the biggest heart and the warmth of the sun) Tash Van Schaardenburg helped me learn/use iMovie to edit the video and they also gave me an old/possibly counterfeit sony digital camera to shoot it on.

'Only Life' was recorded in Christchurch by Brian Feary and features Anita Clark on violin /vocals and Brian Feary on drums.”
