Christchurch guitar-pop artist Ben Woods (Fran, Wurld Series, Salad Boys) and his group of all-stars are zooming up and down Aotearoa this February and March for an extensive nationwide tour. They're playing a plethora of headline events squished in between support slots for visiting US noise-rock duo No Age and appearances at Canterbury's Nostalgia Festival, Wellington's Newtown Festival, and Hamilton's Future City Festival. Woods has quickly made waves since stepping out solo last year, his fuzzy debut single ‘Lozenge’ even rocketed into the Hot 20 NZ Singles Chart in August. Christchurch based songwriter Ben Woods (Fran; Wurld Series; Salad Boys) and his group will be embarking on a large scale tour of New Zealand through February and March. The tour sees Woods and his group playing headline shows around the country as well as supporting LA noise-rock duo No Age in Blenheim. They will also make appearances at Nostalgia Festival, Newtown Festival, and Future City Festival.
Ben Woods Group will start out in Otago before wending their way up the North Island. He will be sharing the stage with a plethora of local talents such as Lucy Hunter (Wet Specimen; Opposite Sex), Birdation (Death and the Maiden; Bad Sav), Vincent H.L, I.E Crazy and Horn.
Woods gained praise throughout the blogosphere for his tuneful fuzz-pop debut ‘Lozenge’ and its accompanying video, directed by Martin Sagadin, who also directed videos for Aldous Harding, Marlon Williams and Tiny Ruins. Last year’s video release was followed by an extensive tour co- headlined by avant-garde violin virtuoso Motte. Woods spent last year recording an album at Dunedin’s Radio One with Steven John Marr.
