Weekly Roundup: Friday 12th July

Friday 12th July, 2019 4:42PM

Announcement highlights for the wintery week include Pōneke's French For Rabbits are returning to local stages with a four-date tour of Aotearoa this August, road-testing new material before they hit the studio to record their third album, Auckland guitar pop heroes The Beths have added extra dates to their rapidly selling out homecoming tour in November, Orchestra of Spheres are celebrating their 10th anniversary as a cosmic four-piece with a star-studded birthday bash in late July, rising electronic pop / RnB rising star Golden Vessel is bringing his celestial vocals to Auckland and Wellington in October.

More notable overseas artists heading our way include Zambian rapper Sampa The Great is playing two Aotearoa headline events in October, and Portlandia's Fred Armisen is bringing his music-oriented gags to Tāmaki Makaurau for a rib-rattling headline event in September. If you're keen to hear some classic tunes and support a great cause, look no further than Boss Soul - A Tribute To Bruce Springsteen, featuring members of The Eastern, The Black Velvet Band, Soulmates and The Haunters performing a selection of Springsteen's blue collar anthems, in support of Christchurch City food banks.

Bailey Wiley's highly anticipated debut EP release tour is kicking off tonight at Auckland's Galatos, before heading down to Christchurch's Fat Eddies this Saturday and wrapping up with a Wellington headline event at Moon1 in late July. Before Wiley was swept up in the tour, she sat down with Chelsea Prastiti of Auckland neo-soul crew SKILAA for an in-depth chat, exploring the artist's connection with musical theatre, musical collaborations and her teen love of Xtina you can read right here.

Our Caught Live video for this week showcases the majestically theatrical metal assault of Cradle Of Filth, hitting Aotearoa for one crucial headline event at Auckland's The Studio. Take in amazing recent footage of Cradle of Filth bringing their epic grandeur to the masses, playing three songs for the huge goats-throwing crowd at Germany's Wacken Open Air metal festival...
