Weekly Roundup: Friday 18th October

C.C. / Friday 18th October, 2019 3:17PM

This week flew by with a mouthwatering assortment of crucial releases and tantalising live shows to look forward to as we zoom toward summer. Announcement highlights included Milwaukee anthem makers Violent Femmes are returning to Aotearoa for two headline events in early 2020, Scottish punk icons The Exploited are hitting our shores this coming March for a trio of shows, and Los Angeles electronic duo Drab Majesty are bringing their otherworldly aesthetic to Auckland and Wellington this February. On the local tip, noise-punks Die! Die! Die! are pulling up their bootstraps for a four date national tour this December, Tāmaki Makaurau punk mainstays Bleeders are back in action with a three date tour ready to pummel the eardums of fans across Aotearoa in November, and Lyttelton legend Delaney Davidson is returning from his global travels to play a special homecoming show in late October.

Canada punk heroes Fucked Up steamrolled across the North Island this week, bringing their wild energy to Whammy Bar and San Fran – check out Connor Crawford's eye-popping snaps of Tuesday's Tāmaki Makaurau event here and read their conversation with equally dynamite Contenders front person Cilla Kinnaird here. We also caught up with Sorcha Durham of Irish alt-pop sensations Walking On Cars, who are visiting Aotearoa for the very first time for two headline events this coming November – read Chris Cudby's interview with the singer / keyboardist right here.

Our Caught Live video for the week features UK street-punk veterans Cockney Rejects, who are currently in the thick of a long-awaited national tour of Aotearoa, hitting Wellington's San Fran tonight and concluding at Auckland's Galatos on Saturday. Prep your eyes and earholes for the onslaught to come via vintage footage of Cockney Rejects busting out a fast and furious live version of 'I'm Not A Fool' (from their cheekily titled debut album Greatest Hits Vol. 1), filmed all the way back in 1980...
