Dougfest: Oops All Headliners Auckland Show Announced

Arising from the humble yet noble urge to simply put on a gig in mid-2023, the phenomenon we now know as Dougfest are looking back on their first ten shows with a literal Oops All Headliners extravaganza at Double Whammy in Tāmaki Makaurau. Eponymous organiser Doug Menzies has put together a doozy of a lineup entirely comprised of acts who've headlined Dougfest previously, with the sonic cherry on top being globe-trotting post-hardcore / metalcore crew Crooked Royals "headlining the headliners" on 25th July. Hosted by rappers Thief n Zard, here's the official intel for this very reasonably priced, all-killer event...

"Celebrating the first 10 DF events the only way we know how, by bringing the greatest 6 bands who have ever graced a Dougfest stage. And with an event of this size, the only place that can hold all of this is at the illustrious Double Whammy. Keeping in the nostalgic theme, this event is priced at the same price as a single Dougfest 1 night (fuck inflation)

First up we have Cootie Cuties, who have been an integral part of every Dougfest, co-headlining every single one of them since 2023. They've also opened for Amyl and the Sniffers, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, Murphys Law and many many more influential punk bands.

Next we have Barracks, the band that got back together and co-headlined Dougfest 2, a band that didn't play a show for 7 years and yet the whole crowd knew the words.

Then we have hosts and secret headliners for Dougfest 1, Dougfest Junior and Dougfest 2, the only rappers on the entire lineup, Hamilton finest - Thief n Zard.

Up next is The First Child, the technical emo post hardcore band that headlined our first ever emo night in 2024. They have since opened for emo legends Anberlin

Then we have the legends that they are, Static, who opened up Dougfest 1 with a stripped back acoustic set after their drummer broke their ankle, did a redemption set at Dougfest 2, then finally headlined Dougfest 3, as well as headlining dougspace Emo Night 3, and then going on to win Battle of the Bands NZ 2026 (and winning a tour of Japan too). Truly are one of the best bands in the country

And headlining the headliners event is none other than Crooked Royals. Somehow headlined Dougfest 2 to a very packed Last Place Bar, a few months after touring Europe/UK and selling out arenas. Genuinely one of the greatest live bands this country has ever seen
