Weekly Round Up: Friday 10th October
This week has been a bit quieter on the tour news front, following the flurry of announcements last week. The War On Drugs booked in a second Auckland show after their December date at The Powerstation sold out within one day. The organisers of the annual WOMAD world music festival revealed two acts from the 2015 line-up, letting slip that Senegalese musician Youssou N’Dour and North American troubadour Rufus Wainwright will be on the bill. And British electro duo Lamb will be making their New Zealand debut next February in support of their sixth studio album Backspace Unwind, out this month.
In local release news, Auckland supergroup Bargain Bin Laden shared their debut EP entitled a paperweight as a brick for your listening pleasure via Bandcamp. Tauranga shitcore outfit Threat.Meet.Protocol unleashed epic 8-minute cut 'Elephant' as a taster for their upcoming EP PRETENTIOUS, coming out soon as a joint effort via Tauranga Music Sux and Hell Is Now Love labels. Striking songstress Chelsea Jade unveiled new single 'Visions', which comes from her new Beacons EP due out later this month. And drone group Greenfog shared their new cut 'Mc Nugget' from their self-recorded album due out later this year. Looking overseas, Bjork has revealed she is working on a follow up album to 2011's Biophilia, which will feature production by Arca. And Neil Young has let loose details of his forthcoming hi-fi effort Storytone that will be our 4th November via Reprise.
This week's Caught Live is Weezer performing 'Ain't Got Nobody' from their new album Everything Will Be Alright in the End, on Jimmy Kimmel Live...
