Seattle-based songstress Kimya Dawson has announced two New Zealand shows for September. The folk-punk artist, who is also one half of duo The Moldy Peaches, was last on these shores in 2008 to play in Wellington and Auckland, where she will be returning this time round with her friend Clyde Petersen aka Your Heart Breaks coming along for the ride...

With some super sweet Australian invitations to play GOMA’s Cindy Sherman Up Late series and DRESS UP ATTACK!’s latest Sydney and Brisbane excursions; Kimya is also happy to announce some special clubs show in Auckland and Wellington as well as Australia. Not having been down this way since her previous adventure to these quarters for the 2011 sold out Melbourne festival performance/tour of A Night with Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson… and corresponding solo album release of Thunder Thighs.
With her recent track At The Seams reaching out in support of Black Lives Matter no better time to make the long trek down this way along with friend Clyde Petersen ala Your Heart Breaks in tow for this row boat built for two.

Kimya Dawson has released 7 solo albums and albums with her groups The Uncluded (with Aesop Rock), The Moldy Peaches, The Bundles, and Antsy Pants. She has collaborated with a long list of artists including The Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, and Regina Spektor. She is known for her many songs on the Grammy Award winning soundtrack for the movie Juno as well as her 2008 children’s album Alphabutt. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington with her 9 year old daughter.
