Tāmaki Makaurau songwriter Fables aka Jess Bailey steps into a new era with the release of her debut album Change is a Slow-Moving Beast — out April 17 via Home Alone Music. Marking a fully realised body of work, the record deepens Fables’ signature blend of melancholic dream-folk, rich storytelling, and immersive sonic textures.
Created alongside a cast of trusted collaborators, the album expands the emotional and sonic world introduced in earlier singles, weaving together themes of transformation, longing, and quiet resilience.
Following the release, Fables brings Change is a Slow-Moving Beast to the stage with a run of full-band shows across Aotearoa. Known for her evocative live performances, Bailey invites audiences into an intimate yet expansive world—where hushed moments give way to swelling, full-bodied arrangements.
Step inside the shifting, luminous landscape of Fables and join her in celebrating the arrival of Change is a Slow-Moving Beast live this season.
