With a list of credits that include several top Scottish bands and professional recordings, Gerry O’Neil plays with a range of styles, reflecting his experience using his acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocals.
Originally hailing from Glasgow in Scotland, Gerry left his musical commitments behind, in search of more radical and interesting musical styles. In the mid 90’s, he packed a DAT recorder and a fistful of travelers cheques, and traveled through Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, India and New Zealand.
On the way, he encountered and recorded Hindu temple ceremonies, Indonesian Gamelan (bamboo) music, Tibetan monks chanting in Nepal, as well as traditional Aboriginal and Maori sounds, to name but a few.
“Gerry’s Scottish humour and lively banter always go down well with the crowds.”
Amongst many musical projects, he played bass on Anna Murray’s second album “Into Indigo” and has recorded with the recipient of the BBC’s ‘Young Folk Singer of the Year’ award, Emily Smith.
