Marty Duda has been playing and collecting records for 50 years, amassing a collection of vinyl that numbers over 25,000. Along the way he has become obsessed with rock & roll, rhythm & blues, funk, rockabilly, pop and jazz. Over the years he has run an independent record label, produced records with the likes of Bootsy Collins and Bill Doggett, written about music for countless magazines and served as a radio producer and commentator for Radio New Zealand and Radio Live. He has also created the New Zealand-based website The 13th Floor, reviewing hundreds of concerts and interviewing an equal number of artists. This has now morphed into Radio 13, an internet radio station run out of his studio on Symonds St and featuring many of Auckland’s top DJs. But above all, Marty loves to play records for people, ensuring a good time is had by all.
