Hallertau Presents: Kate Wadey with Peter Koopman - live, Sunday 28 April, 1.30pm #MonthofSundays
From Sydney, jazz singer Kate Wadey, performing songs from her brand new album Moon Songs.
Kate’s return to the studio brings her effortless charm and vocal prowess to a range of esoteric standards and her gorgeous original composition ‘The Moon Song’.
Kate has a wonderfully rich and warm voice, coupled with a vocal range, sophistication and innate swing that belie her youth. Imbued with emotion, yet technically masterful, these interpretations are destined to hold their own among the greats.
Kate brings Moon Songs to NZ for a brief tour - including recent appearances in Tauranga, the Waiheke Jazz festival and Auckland's Creative Jazz Club, and Tauranga. She plays Hallertau this Sunday 28 April accompanied by with NZ expat Peter Koopman on guitar and Australian bassist Samuel Dobson.
Since leaving behind the lush, verdant countryside north of the mighty Waikato river in his native New Zealand in 2011, guitarist Peter Koopman has become a regular fixture on Australia's music scene. In addition to leading his own groups in Australia, he also plays with award winning singer Katie Noonan, prog djazz group Scoredatura and COAST, the latter two having released albums Honest Oblivion and Coast in 2018. In 2014 Peter placed 3rd in the national jazz awards at the Wangaratta jazz festival.
