Isla Flamenca debuted in July 2018. In a very short time the band has become something totally different in the Auckland music scene: Their sound is traditional Flamenco but with a modern rhythmical tinge that borrows from Jazz and Cuban music.

Steve Cournane drummer/composer . In 2007 Steve moved to Lima, Peru, where he lived as a musician and studied the traditional Afro-criollo cajon for seven years. This eventually led him to Flamenco music with Ian.
On Sunday 11th Isla Flamenca turns up the heat with guest artists, Flamenco Dancer Krasna Martinic Ristori and Singer Sebastian Gomez, of Chile.
Krasna, who studied flamenco in Spain, has made her mark in the Chilean capital with this fiery style of dance.
Sebastian hails from a family of professional entertainers in Chile.
