Gig Information

Outer Space Food Fight (NZ/US) & The Winners (NZ) present an evening of rampant exhilaration & stylishness at Cupid Bar in Pt Chev, Sat 14 Sept.

Outer Space Food Fight is the electrifying duo of instrument inventor Neil Feather and keyboard wizard Rosie Langabeer who established their unique brand of alien dance buffet on the experimental scene in Baltimore and Philadelphia. Since moving back to NZ, performances at The Wine Cellar and The Audio Foundation have left audiences breathless. Rosie’s big band and orchestral compositions are regularly performed by contemporary ensembles. The Canadian quintet Calefax will be performing her new composition at Auckland Town Hall later this month. Neil Feather has performed and exhibited his invented instruments for several decades around Baltimore, US, in galleries and clubs. Last year a full-length documentary about Neil, Sound Mechanic, was released worldwide.

The Winners celebrate the release of their EP Winners with the song You say I’m beautiful but what would you know? and accompanying runaway hit video. The band grew out of the now legendary HAPPY venue in Pōneke before songwriter Stephen Bain headed north to Tāmaki Makaurau. Stephen reformed the band earlier this year, enlisting the help of musical sorcerers Rosie Langabeer (drums), Anita Clarke (violin) and Marija Dimitrijevic (bass). The Winners treat pop songs like short stories in search of a narrator, catchy yet always on the lookout for an accomplice.
