Weekly Round Up: Friday 15th April
Whew what a week!! Of course, this week's big tour news was the revelation that The Cure are coming this way for one show in July. Also heading over is British shoegaze outfit Swervedriver for three dates with our very own 90s icons Fur Patrol. Country music stars Josh Hedley and Willie Watson announced an Auckland show for July. Melbourne act The Temper Trap have lined up a free show at The Powerstation for May. And more locally, Zen Mantra announced a handful of North Island dates to support their new album. New Zealand music mainstays Carter, Morley and Yeats have two shows up their collective sleeves for later this month. And Skinny Hobos announced a 10-date tour with their pals Quinn The Human coming along for a bunch of shows.
In release news, we were delighted to hear a new tune from Wellington's Orchestra Of Spheres. Also coming out of the capital city was the debut EP from anarcho-punks Unsanitary Napkin. The clever chap known as Lawrence Arabia unveiled the new single from his upcoming album Absolute Truth. And Delaney Davidson shared a stunning video for 'Gimmie Your Hand' cooked up as part of the Around The World In 80 Music Videos project. Further abroad a new song from The Julie Ruin sees Kathleen Hanna wearing her heart on her sleeve like never before. And newly formed supergroup RLYR, made up of members of Pelican and Bloodiest, shared their single 'Slipstream Summer'.
This week's Caught Live is the beautiful Dolly Parton joined by Katy Perry for a hair-raising medley at the American Country Music awards...
