Weekly Round Up: Friday 10th February

Friday 10th February, 2017 2:17PM

Some top notch tour announcements came out of the woodwork this week. We were elated to announce that alt-rock icons Helmet will be returning to these shores in April for two shows that will see them performing their landmark album Betty in full. It is also with great delight we announced the return of Ryan Adams who will be playing one special show at The Civic Theatre in Auckland on the heels of releasing his new record Prisoner. German folktronica duo Milky Chance are heading back downunder on the coattails of their sophomore album. Montreal-based sound artist Sasha Ford aka Blankets will be playing a whole heap of dates around the country for next month. Edward Castelow's Dictaphone Blues lined up a seven-date jaunt around the country which will see the band showcase material from a new album out later this year. French For Rabbits revealed an extensive run of dates, along with news of an upcoming album titled The Weight Of Melted Snow. And right out of the blue a new festival has been announced for late summer and the first act on the bill is none other than electronic pioneers Underworld.

In release news, Auckland post-hardcore supergroup Long Distance Runner shared the title-track from their upcoming 7-inch No Value, along with a few dates for the North Island across coming weeks. Dunedin-based artist Kane Strang revealed that he has signed to American label Dead Oceans and has an album on the way, and on top of that he shared brilliant lead single 'Oh So You're Off I See'. Auckland trio Black Science unveiled their latest tune 'I Fell Off The Edge Of My Mind', which was produced by the help of the aforementioned Eddie Castelow of Dictaphone Blues. Further abroad, the gravel-toned Mark Lanegan let loose dark new single 'Nocturne' as he readies to release new album Gargoyle. And Blondie shared their disco-esque cut 'Fun' from their new record Pollinator, which was one of the last albums to be track at the infamous Magic Shop in New York.

This week's Caught Live is from last year, but we're sharing it in anticipation of this weekend's Aldous Harding shows at Hollywood Theatre in Auckland. Here she is delivering an astounding version of Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights' in London last April...
