Weekly Round Up: Friday 3rd November
It’s been an excellent week for huge tour announcements, music releases and more. International touring highlights include "the best live band in the world" King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard will be playing shows in Auckland and Wellington with pals Mild High Club and La Luz, UK alt-rock superstar King Krule is heading our way for an Auckland Festival 2018 show in March, influential rapper Lil Uzi Vert is visiting Auckland for the first time this February, and English punk poet John Cooper Clarke will be touring New Zealand in April.
Upcoming local shows to keep your eye on include psychedelic pop artist Connan Mockasin is headlining Christchurch’s Nostalgia Festival 2018, Yumi Zouma will be back touring their popular album Willowbank in November, and Wellington alt-pop group Glass Vaults are hitting the road for a spring tour. Auckland’s Audio Foundation announced the lineup for their Eeeow! Festival of experimental electronic music, Punk It Up 2018 shared their lineup for the "last ever punk show" at Auckland’s Kings Arms tavern, and Wellington’s Eyegum collective shared the lineup for February’s A Gathering In The Forest festival.
Release highlights for the week include digital pop artist Laura Lee Lovely’s new video for her song ‘Faster’, Auckland producer and songwriter Villette’s single ‘Bag of Bones’ from her upcoming mixtape Drip Crimson, and psychedelic dance duo Ghost Wave’s new single with Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3) ‘Heaven’. Other notable releases of the week include Wellington songwriter Neil MacLeod’s new Sonder EP, a new video for Dictaphone Blues’ latest catchy single ‘Bully’, and frenetic new single 'Wet Lip Hope' from For The Girl Who Has Everything.
