Weekly Roundup: Friday 6th December

Weekly Roundup: Friday 6th December

C.C. / Friday 6th December, 2019 4:27PM

The silly season is definitely upon us and we've got a tonne of thrills to share over the site's final two weeks of 2019, before we shut up shop for summer and hit the beach. Announcement highlights for this week included Portland psychedelic travellers Moon Duo are bringing their mind-expanding audio-visual spectacular The Lightship to Tāmaki Makaurau's Hollywood Avondale this February, California ska-punk champions Mad Caddies are bringing their skanking anthems to Aotearoa for a three date tour in April 2020, German heavy-psych masters Kadavar are playing their debut NZ tour this coming March, and Canadian folk artist Gordie Tentrees is performing an extensive run of NZ headline shows this summer.

"New Zealand's most dangerous rock 'n' roll band" The Cavemen are gearing up to tear Aotearoa a new one on their homecoming tour of the North Island – we caught up with the gang ahead of next week's insanity to quiz them on their favourite wild garage punk songs. Check out Paul Cavemen's expertly selected hit picks and commentary on each track right here. We unveiled the penultimate episode of our UTR Caught Live video series, this week featuring Aotearoa bedroom-pop star Lontalius – experience stellar footage of the artist performing at his Tāmaki Makaurau album release party for All I Have over here. We also kicked off our long-percolating end of year features series with our New Zealand Video Highlights, check out ten music videos from throughout Aotearoa that blew us away in 2019 right here.

Our Caught Live video for the week features supremely stylish Los Angeles "tragic wave" gothic / electronic synthesists Drab Majesty, who are returning to Aotearoa for two crucial events at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Bar and Pōneke's Valhalla in late February – quick on the rebound following early 2019's sold-out NZ shows. Preview the amazingness to come with intensely vibey footage of the pair performing 'Kissing The Ground' (from 2017's The Demonstration) live for NTS Radio at Moth Club in Hackney, London...
