About the bands:

THE RESPONSE
After meeting at Jazz School and refining their sound through several releases and a stint living in Canada, The Response craft alternative pop songs that are both introspective and energetic. The Christchurch native band perform as a duo, combining a variety of live electronic instruments with guitar and vocals resulting in a familiar yet entirely unique sound.

Their live show has seen them play support for international acts including Baio (of Vampire Weekend fame), Deep Sea Diver (Seattle), Big Scary (Australia) and Kate Boy (Sweden), as well as play local festival Electric Avenue and join the lineup for The Edge NYE19 in Hagley Park.

The Response blend electronic minimalism, pop sensibilities and the eclectic influences of vocalist/guitarist Andy Knopp and multi-instrumentalist Victoria Knopp to create \indie pop at its carefully crafted best\ (NZ Musician Magazine).

After two years based in Vancouver, Canada where apartment living and public transit inspired a more minimalistic and increasingly electronic shift in their sound and live set up, The Response made their way back to New Zealand where they have since released singles Holding out for Something, Only In The Night and Practical, as well as two EPs. Described as “indie-proper”, the duo write, produce, record, mix and master all their own music.

The Response release their next album ‘Escaping This Cold Rotation’ late in 2019, with alt pop gems Tallest Walls and Picture Undefined out now, with tour dates set for January 2020.

YOUR INDIGO
In 2017 good friends Josh Holmes (Junus Orca, Othersun), Amiria Grenell (Tui award winner) and Bryony Matthews joined together to create Your Indigo.

Each with their own musical careers, Holmes an electronic producer, Grenell and Matthews both folk singer songwriters, they were all looking to create something different.

Combining their crafts, Your Indigo brings the sound of Holmes’ impeccable ear for ambient electronica and intricate rhythms mixed with Grenell and Matthews’ natural talent for lyrical and melodic songwriting.

After releasing their first single ‘Not A Feathered Tree’ in 2018, they were quickly chosen for the RDU Singles Club for RDU FM to be part of an exclusive print of vinyls and were part of festivals such as Nostalgia and North Canterbury Wine and Food, as well as opening for The Young Folk and Christian Patey.

Having been busy writing and recording they are now set to release their 5 track EP later in 2019, bringing a collection of new and exciting sounds to the stages of Aotearoa.
