Reb Fountain Announces New Dates For 'IRIS' NZ Tour + Shares Video For 'Fisherman'

Taite Music Prize winner Reb Fountain has unveiled brand new dates for the long-awaited nationwide launch tour for her latest album IRIS, which is in fact shortlisted for the 2022 Taite Prize. Locked in for this coming July and August, following pandemic-related delays, the coast is finally clear for Fountain to celebrate her acclaimed Flying Nun record's release throughout Aotearoa, joined on stage by live band and special guest Jazmine Mary (for all dates except Auckland) . Originally announced for October of last year, Fountain shared her excitement about touring IRIS at last, including a headline Auckland Town Hall performance as part of Elemental Nights 2022...

“After releasing IRIS in October 2021 we were all set to tour the album and like so many of our musical peers, plans got curtailed then cancelled. I’m so excited to share with you that we’re bringing IRIS on the road — for real, it’s happening, let’s go. Dave, Karin, Earl and I can’t wait to play for you, to do the work we love and to share our record, finally! The icing on the cake of today's tour announcement is a new video for Reb Fountain's 'Fisherman' from IRIS, directed by Lola Fountain-Best and made with support from NZ On Air. Shot on super 8 film at Fountain’s home, the disarmingly intimate monochrome visuals draw inspiration from Andy Warhol’s famously minimal 'screen test' experimental films...

“The audition tape offers an odd glimpse of ‘self’; an eery disquiet where it’s unclear whether seeing really is believing. We love working with super 8 and conceptually the ‘screen test’ gave us a chance to explore the many voices in Fisherman.”
