Tāmaki Makaurau based psychedelic janglers Silk Cut play a set of original, indie rock tunes. Think Television, Swervedriver, Ride and Big Star, all plugged into the same amp.
Joining them is guitar player extraordinaire Tom Irvine who, along with his own band, mixes a home brewed brand of 6 six string goodness.
Andrew and Justin from Silk Cut open the evening's proceedings as an acoustic duo playing stripped back versions of their originals and possibly a cover or two.
Great kiwi music, amazing food, tasty beer and free entry . . . see you there.
Praise for Silk Cut:
“Space-age shoegaze, with a whole lot less fuzz. Atmospheric and
introspective, one part soundtrack, one part journey, on a whole new classic”.
(Peter-James Dries, MusicNetNZ)
“...chest-swelling indie-rock power-pop...”
“... L e n n o n e s q u e d r e a m - p o p ...”
(Graham Reid, ElsewhereCoNZ)
“Dreamy landscapes framed by crystalline, shimmering guitars”, with “Indelible
melodies”...” buttressed by an extra-terrestrial spaced out psychedelia.”
