Stream Invisible Threads' Rediscovered EP 'Dead Lion'

Monday 10th August, 2015 12:54PM

Now a four-piece, Auckland outfit Invisible Threads is sharing the three-track EP Dead Lion, which was laid down when the group was a newly formed duo featuring Melissa West and Sam Moore. The instrumental offering was recorded on reel-to-reel tape machine a couple of years ago, but was lost and forgotten during a haze of shifting house.

Moore says the recordings were rediscovered recently and after listening they decided it would be a shame not to release it. However, he says the title is not as topical as it might suggest. "While we're all disgusted by the killing of Cecil the Lion and endangered species all over the world, the title for this is not in fact trying to be topical. Our first band name was Dead Lion so we decided to name the EP that as well," he says.

Invisible Threads has expanded to include bassist Dane Taylor (Smoking Daggers, Evil Ocean) and Brent Bidlake (The Biscuits, Shallow Grave) on synths. The four-piece are currently working towards a release to come out later this year. In the meantime check out Dead Lion...

Invisible Threads will be playing with Strange Harvest and Emily Edrosa on Friday 11th September at Golden Dawn in Auckland, head over here for more details.
