Weekly Round Up: Friday 25th August
In tour news this week, Australian artist Paul Kelly announced he would be jumping the ditch for three shows at the end of the year. The National have lined up a special appearance at Villa Maria Winery for February. UK synth pop pioneers The Human League are coming this way for an Auckland show with their Aussie pals Pseudo Echo in tow. An epic RnB line up has been announced for the first ever Friday Jams Live party featuring the likes of Kelis, Ne-Yo, Sean Paul and more. And in festival news, the first line-up for Rhythm and Alps was revealed with Little Dragon, Schoolboy Q, Cigarettes After Sex, Goldie, Nao and loads more. And Mac DeMarco and Anderson Paak were announced as the first acts for next year's Laneway Festival.
Lots of great stuff on the release front this week. Highlights include the Gillian Anderson-themed tune from Auckland's Wax Chattels, which we premiered and was tweeted by the X-Files actress herself. We were also delighted to premiere the brand new song and video from the incredible triumvirate of Hex from Wellington. And we got to lift the lid off the sweet new tune from Arthur Ahbez who is gearing up to release his second full-length record next month. On the streaming front, we shared a preview of the gorgeous new EP from Wellington artist Blaek. And from further abroad the ever-popular Queens of the Stone Age let loose their eagerly anticipated album Villains.
This week's Caught Live is a fan-shot vid of Jello Biafra jumping on-stage with Mike Patton's band Dead Cross to perform a special Trump-targeted version of 'Nazi Punks Fuck Off' in Berkley a few days ago...
