Weekly Round Up: Friday 20th October

It's been a whirlwind week of very exciting tour announcements and musical releases, with US queen of heavy gothic folk Chelsea Wolfe touring the North Island next March and legendary disco diva and supermodel Grace Jones set to play in Queenstown next year! Wellington's New Zealand Festival shared an immense list of musical artists and global festival WOMAD announced it's full lineup for 2018 featuring a number of crucial acts on the bill. Metalheads weren't left out - Philadelphia prog-metallers Rosetta are slated for a North Island tour in December and foundational Norwegian Black Metal group Mayhem will heading to Auckland in January.

Notable local releases included our premiere of Auckland alt-pop group The Beths' catchy new single 'Great No One', Wellington producer Cave Circles' hypnotic new video for 'The Garden', and debut singles from Auckland's Being. and supergroup Thousand Island. The UTR office also enjoyed new albums from Christchurch experimental folk musician Casper Thomson and acid-folk maestro Arthur Ahbez.

It's been a good one for international singles with an amazingly trippy ten minute video for King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's 'Crumbling Castle', Morrissey's amusingly laid back video for 'Spent The Day In Bed', US punks Screaming Females' smashing video for 'Glass House' and MGMT's catchy single 'Little Dark Age' which featured a spooky promo video starring New Zealand's Connan Mockasin.

This week's Caught Live features man of the moment King Krule whose latest album The OOZ has set hearts on fire worldwide. The UK artist is set to play Australia's Golden Plains Festival this coming March, here he is performing recent hit 'Dum Surfer' on Later... with Jools Holland...
