Weekly Round Up: Friday 20th June

Friday 20th June, 2014 4:41PM

Of course the major tour news this week is that Nick Cave is returning to the country for four shows in December. The rare solo tour will see Mr Cave performing from songs his vast back-catalogue with a small ensemble of supporting musicians. In other tour news, Bob Dylan will be performing a second concert in Hamilton in August due to overwhelming demand, and Eagles also added a second show to their March visit after the first sold out in minutes. LA-based producer Shlohmo is crossing the Pacific  in September to play two shows across Wellington and Auckland. The first headline announcement for Rhythm & Vines and its sister event Rhythm & Alps sees English act Bastille performing at both festivals in December.  Locally, Anthonie Tonnon has returned from six-weeks in the States and  cemented plans for three shows around the country. And 80s post-punk icon Peter Jefferies is selling tickets for his first headline performance in more than a decade.

In release news, Wellington-based experimental folk artist Seth Frightening shared new single 'Bully' from his forthcoming album, due out in July. Also from Wellington, post-punk duo Minderbender released their great new album Emotions, which is available for streaming over here. Dunedin trio Eye are celebrating the long-awaited release (like, eight years long) of their album Winterwork this weekend with a gig at Chick's Hotel. Across the ditch, Melbourne outfit Total Control shared a third single, titled 'Glass', from their sophomore album Typical System coming out next week. A little further afield, indie pop icons The Vaselines shared a new single as a taster for their upcoming album V For Vaseline. A shelved Aphex Twin album (recorded under the name Caustic Window in 1994) has a new lease of life after thousands of fans chipped in to buy an original test pressing and put it online.

This week's Caught Live is Mac DeMarco doing a rare performance of early song 'Marilyn and Me'...
