Martin Setchell recently celebrated the re-opening of the Christchurch Town Hall and its Rieger organ after the 2010/2011 earthquakes. Now he comes to the Auckland Town Hall to lead a celebration for the wonderful Klais organ’s 10th birthday.
Martin has given dozens of concerts on organs around the world and he’s been dubbed New Zealand’s most travelled organist. His Auckland programme will include Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor, played at the inauguration of both the Klais organ and the original 1911 organ; Vierne’s Carillon de Westminster and Reger’s Variations on God Save the Queen in a feast of birthday-styled music. This first post-lockdown concert on New Zealand’s leading concert instrument will be one to remember.
