Swirl Jam (aka Merk) Shares Crowd-Sourced Ode To Swirlies

Annabel Kean / Thursday 9th April, 2020 12:41PM

Mark Perkins aka Merk under new moniker Swirl Jam lifts the lid on 'Swirly Song (Gettin' a Swirly)', his collaboration with hundreds of Instagram livestream listeners and LA producer Leroy Clampitt, brought to life during one of the many virtual concerts cropping up these days. The matching visuals show Perkins and Clampitt performing the crowd-sourced track in-studio style, earnestly serenading viewers with lyrics drawn from the livestream livechat such as "Held up by my feet, my head goes through the seat" and "Nothing like getting a swirly when I get up early." Merk has credited contributors in the clip by including the full list of Instagram users who tuned in, featuring Broods, Lontalius, Japanese Wallpaper, French For Rabbits, Same Name Confusion and many more notable names. Is this ode to swirlies the Band Aid of the Covid-19 crisis? I'm willing to bet it is...
