Beloved by Tāmaki Makaurau gig goers as one half of the sci-fi synth phenomenon that is Queen Neptune, Karl Steven has firmly established himself as one of Aotearoa's most respected film and television soundtrack composers. With a bevy of awards under his belt, including the 2020 APRA Silver Scrolls award for Best Music in a Feature Film for the score to Come To Daddy (starring Elijah Wood), Steven is presenting what may well be the first ever live performance event showcasing a selection of his recent compositional works at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Wine Cellar on 27th June — featuring special guests Kulios string trio with David Rawsthorne, Finn Scholes (Carnivorous Plant Society) and Michael Barker on tuned percussion, taonga pūoro artist Rob Thorne and Steven himself on "assorted electronics". "Whoops I made a six minute dreamscape for this show Unfencing the Commons. Featuring #twochords #amillionrimshots and #heavycompression. I recommend listening on public transport, in traffic jams, or when taking a personal day. x" - Karl Steven
