Funky Mama has been a staple in the Wellington music diet since 2016. Fresh from treating severe cases of deep vein thrombosis in Tauranga, they’re back in the capital to deliver their signature blend of deep funk, bouncy boogaloo and ’80s house.
Led by saxophonist Bryn van Vliet, Funky Mama are here to get the blood pumping, the hips moving and the circulation flowing. Forget the compression socks — come down for a Thursday night libation and let some of Wellington’s finest funk practitioners get you back on your feet.
