Weekly Round Up: Friday 28th November

Friday 28th November, 2014 3:30PM

In this week's tour news, we were supremely excited to announce the impending return of Brooklyn-based act Parquet Courts, who are playing four shows around the country  in March (and the tickets are an absolute bargain, don't miss out). Also returning to these shores is recently reunited hip hop outfit Jurassic 5 for a short string of shows in April, as well as soulman Charles Bradley who is playing one Auckland show. There were mixed feelings from punters on our Facebook page to the news that Counting Crows would be winging their way to New Zealand for one show in April. Texan gentleman Shakey Graves is rolling into Auckland for one show in February. And, a little closer to home, the organisers of Woodcock 2015 have managed to rope an international artist into playing the subversive festival, which they announced with a sweet video.

In release news, bedroom musician PHF (formerly known as Perfect Hair Forever) has unveiled a new single recorded in collaboration with the talented Emily Edrosa. Ex-pat Taste Nasa, whose real name is Leroy Clampitt (of Strange Babes) shared one heck of a summer track, written while in the midst of the Los Angeles heat. Cheats, aka Lawrence Goodwin, has released brand new album Funky Asthmatic, which is available for streaming and free download from Bandcamp. Trip Pony is also streaming her shiny debut EP Gem. And Will Butler has strayed away from the Arcade Fire to announce the imminent release of a solo album, from which he has shared a bluesy single titled 'Take My Side'.

This week's Caught Live is the inimitable Cat Power debuting a brand new untitled song in Istanbul...
