Weekly Round Up: Friday 11th August

Friday 11th August, 2017 2:50PM

Tour news was popping off this week!! In the mix was the announcement that Wu-Tang Clan founding member GZA will be dropping by for two North Island shows in November. The wonderful Marlon Williams is coming home that same month for a wee jaunt on the heels of releasing his new single 'Vampire Again'.  Country punk crew the Supersuckers have lined up a four-show tour for mid-November.  And also in November, Stevie Nicks will be gracing Auckland and Dunedin with her presence along with special guests the Pretenders. Former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone will be heading this way for three dates at the end of the year. Then in early 2018 Dweezil Zappa will be bringing the music of his famous father Frank to these shores for a one-off Auckland date. Coming from across the ditch, Sydney noise-techno duo WDK will be here for a string of shows kicking off later this month. And Melbourne's party starters Habits have locked in two dates for early October. In festival news, a cracker of a line-up was announced for this year's iteration of the Southern Fork Americana Fest.

In release highlights, folk-inspired indie group Alae let loose their catchy new single 'From 1 To 3' along with a striking clip from Mikee Carpinter. Dunedin synthwave act Embedded Figures shared a video trilogy entitled Le Trie Arterie which was made in collaboration with Auckland-based visual artist and musician Ducklingmonter. And also on the video front, Magic Factory unearthed some VHS gold with their clip for 'Mother Nature', a track plucked from their upcoming debut album out next Friday. From further abroad, Queens Of The Stone Age unveiled a killer track called 'The Evil Has Landed' from their impending album Villains. And garage rock guerrillas Chain & The Gang shared new single 'Rome' as they announce the impending arrival of new record Experimental Music in September.

This week's Caught Live is a great clip of a solo outing by Womb's Charlotte Forrester performing 'Satellite' at Space Academy in Christchurch recently, video courtesy of Martin Sagadin...
