Auckland’s Te Ngahere o Woodhill (Woodhill Forest) becomes the beautiful backdrop to a new music festival, with UK music legends Underworld headlining Oro ’17 this April.

In their first ever full-length New Zealand show, these electronic pioneers are set to dazzle music-lovers with their Coachella-ready set at this brand-new, boutique music festival amongst the trees on Saturday 8 April.

One of the most prominent players in the electronic music scene since its early days in the UK, DJ Phil Hartnoll needs no introduction. As one half of the world renowned duo Orbital, Phil has helped to produce some of the most ground-breaking works in the history of electronic music and has established himself as a prominent solo DJ through his extensive playing over the past 10 years. Keeping selections diverse and bringing old tracks and new, Phil Hartnoll guarantees to bring the party to Oro ’17.

House music master Dave Seaman also joins the Oro ’17 line up. Remixing and producing for everybody from David Bowie to New Order and Kylie Minogue to the Pet Shop Boys, Seaman has been DJing for over 25 years and has played in over 70 countries around the world. With over 20 mix compilations for the likes of Global Underground, Renaissance and Radio 1’s Essential Mix under his belt, there is no doubt festival goers are in for a world class treat this April.

Continuing on the legendary tip, New York emcee and 90’s saviour of hip hop, Jeru the Damaja will be taking the festival stage, delivering his hardcore brand of conscious hip hop and truth telling to the forest this April where he will demonstrate why he has been named one of the 50 Greatest Emcees of all time.

Making their NZ debut, Koven, one of the most exciting bass music outfits to emerge from the UK in recent times are set to perform their festival ready brand of EDM, and touting an impressive 1.7million Spotif listeners in 2016 alone, Manchester’s wunderkind Feint will be bringing his own brand of uplifting, high energy drum & bass to our shores for the first time. Versatile French Producer and DJ Evil Needle will enhance the forest with his atmospheric downtempo hip hop inspired beats that will touch your soul as well your ears.

Kiwis also represent with local and international dancefloor legend Greg Churchill bringing the bangers to proceedings and Rhythm Selection king DJ Dubhead will be delivering the reggae, funk and hip-hop niceness amongst the trees. Student radio favourite and growing fixture of Auckland’s live scene, SoccerPractise will show the Oro ’17 crowd what has them tipped as ones to watch.

An Iwi representative states, “Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara are excited to host artists and festival goers on their ancestral land, Te Ngahere o Woodhill, for Oro 17. We invite people to come and enjoy themselves in a safe and beautiful environment this April.”

We look forward to welcoming you onto the land for Oro ’17.
