Outlier Festival 2022 Lineup Announced

Outlier Festival 2022 Lineup Announced

Chris Cudby / Thursday 1st September, 2022 1:17PM

Presenting a carefully curated selection of Aotearoa's most artistically ambitious and challenging electronic music / sound practitioners, Tāmaki Makaurau's Outlier Festival is making a mighty return over three days in October. Brought to you by experimental music champions Audio Foundation, the festival will be happening in a variety of central city locations, including Whammy Bar, Whammy Backroom, Artspace and the Auckland Unitarian Church. Artistic directors Grace Verweij (Sequentia, Related Articles) and Tash van Schaardenburg (Citacsy) have invited open-eared artists from all around the country with both deep listening and dancefloor-focussed experiences in mind — encompassing such wildly diverse approaches as "EBM, glitch, footwork, deconstructed club, ambient, cumbia, synthpop, hyperpop, cowgirl breaks, concrete music, goblin-core, dubstep, leftfield bass, power electronics, techno, taonga pūoro, drone, IDM, noise, neo-folk, industrial-sonics, coded music, splatter, slambient + everything in between!"

Including rare Tāmaki performances by Current Bias, Strange Stains, E/N/T, Cave Circles (all travelling from Te Whanganui-a-Tara), Synthetic Children (Papaioea), Big Flip the Massive (Ōtautahi) and Synthesized Waves (Waihōpai), festival passes and tickets for individual days are available now. Scope out the all-killer full official lineup and timetable details below, with even more details for the must-attend "multi-modal showcase" to be announced soon over on the festival's Instagram page HERE.
